Rape of Polyxena
About
Carved in 1868 by Pio Fedi, The Rape of Polyxena depicts the abduction of the Trojan princess Polyxena by Neoptolemus. A better translation of the name might be kidnapping or snatching rather than being sexual in nature. It is the same root word used in scripture for rapture. The statue lives in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy.
